| The Japug or
Pugin is not a purebred dog. It is a
cross between the
Japanese Chin and the
Pug. The best way to determine the
temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all
breeds in the cross and know you can get any
combination of any of the characteristics
found in either breed.
Not all of these designer
hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50%
purebred. It is very common for breeders to
breed
multi-generation crosses.
The Pug is a small,
stocky, square, thickset dog. The round head
is massive with a short, blunt, square shaped
muzzle. Moles on the cheeks are considered
beauty spots. The teeth meet in a slight
undershot bite. The very large, prominent eyes
are dark. The small, thin ears are either rose
or button shaped. The face has large, deep
wrinkles. The high set tail is curled over the
back and a double curl is preferred in the
show ring. Dewclaws are usually removed. The
short coat is soft, fine and smooth. Coat
colors come in apricot, fawn, black and
silver.
The Japanese
Chin is also called the Chin or Japanese
Spaniel. It is a little spaniel whose only
bred purpose is to serve man as a companion.
The Chin has a large broad head, large
wide-set eyes, and a short broad muzzle. The
ears are small, V-shaped, wide apart, and set
slightly below the crown of the skull, and
well covered with hair. The forehead is quite
round. The stop is deep, and the muzzle is
short and broad. The nose is wide with an
extremely short nasal canal. The nose is black
in black and white dogs, and in other colored
dogs the nose color should match the color of
the coat markings. The eyes are protruding,
set wide apart, large, round, and dark in
color. The bite is slightly undershot. The
body height and length are about the same. The
front legs are straight, and fine boned, with
the elbows set close to the body. The tail is
set high and carried arched up over the back
hanging to either side of the dog with
feathering. The coat is white with colored
patches. The patches are often black, but can
also be red, lemon, orange, sable, black and
white with tan points, or brindle.
Pugins- They are
extremely friendly smart social love bugs!
They are tiny versions of pugs with a soft
short fuzzy/plush coat. Often are healthier
and have longer life spans then there
purebred counter parts. Also known as
Japugs.
Size:
Average 10-15 pounds
Coat:
Short Plush Extremely Soft
Colors:
Fawn, or Black usually with white spots on
chin and/or feet
Life Span:
10-14 years
Trainability: Extremely
Smart and pick up on things in no
time! Very short potty training time with
some already set when they go to there new
homes! They are very Eager to Please!
Personality:
They are little lap dogs but are also active
loving play sessions. They love attention
and get along great with other animals.
They are great with kids as they are small
but sturdy little dogs. They are extremely
social and love to meet new people and go
new places!
Environment:
Very versatile. They do great almost
anywhere whether an apartment or a farm
these guys can live pretty much anywhere and
would do great even with those that travel.
In the summer they do need to be kept out of
the heat and humidity as they have flatten
faces with makes it harder to cool
themselves down and breath in humid
climates. Although they can go outside in
the cold for a quick potty break they should
not be left out in the cold or snow.
Exercise:
They love walks and going for car rides.
They do need a small walk or good little
play sessions but overall there needs are
low.
